Introducing Penguin Pay, a feature exclusive to SingleCare.
We are often told to save up for the unexpected. But often, needing to fill a costly prescription is outside of our budget, our plans and what we can reasonably afford. There you are, saving up for [one hundred other daily essentials] when you get hit with a prescription drug cost that’s several hundred dollars (or more). If you’re one of the many Americans who either doesn’t have insurance or has the kind of insurance that barely covers anything. It can feel like a bitter pill to swallow and a heavy burden to bear. Penguin Pay and SingleCare are here to help.
A Fairer Way to Pay for Costly Prescriptions
SingleCare has partnered with Penguin Pay on a brand new offering, to help lessen the financial blow of pricey drugs (both brand and generic). It works like an interest-free loan. Penguin Pay lets you spread the cost of your prescription purchase over time, so you can make weekly payments over a period of 1 to 3 months (you choose the duration) instead of having to make a large, up-front payment at your pharmacist.
Use Penguin Pay to Pay Over Time
The option to “Pay over Time” appears alongside other discounts on the SingleCare.com site. You can sign up for Penguin Pay in addition to using SingleCare coupons. If you haven’t used SingleCare.com before, check it out, you can search for discount prices on drugs and prescriptions at various pharmacies. To see if Penguin Pay is available for your prescription:
- Go to www.singlecare.com/rx
- In the search box, type the name of the drug you are looking for.
- Click through to the pricing page and if available on your drug, “Pay over Time” will be one of the options alongside the discounts listed at participating pharmacies (of which there are many).
Not only are you getting a discounted price on your prescription (with SingleCare’s coupon), but you can elect to pay for your prescription over time.
What’s the Catch?
There isn’t one. SingleCare is passionate about the idea that everyone should be able to access and afford their healthcare. Penguin Pay’s loan does not have any interest rate. Penguin Pay lets you pay over time, with 0% interest and lets you decide between a 4, 8 or 12 week payback period. Once you pick your payment period (at the click of a button), SingleCare runs a credit check and verifies your eligibility for the loan. Don’t worry, Penguin Pay only runs a “soft” credit check so it will not affect your credit score. The whole Penguin sign-up process takes a minute or two.
How Do I Pay for My Prescription?
Your funds arrive instantly in the form of a SingleCare discount card and a pre-loaded, single-use payment card. These are sent to you via text and email. The single-use payment card is a “virtual” MasterCard with the amount of your prescription pre-loaded on it. Show both the SingleCare and Penguin Payment cards at your pharmacy within 48 hours of receiving them. The instructions for using the virtual card are simple and are sent to you in the text and email. Once you’ve used the cards to pay for the prescription at the pharmacy, you can use Penguin Pay’s simple online platform to help you make (and stay on top) of your payments.
The great news is that Penguin Pay will soon be rolling out physical cards, in addition to the digital ones they now send to you by phone or email.
