A black box, or boxed, warning, is the strongest warning required by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nami.org\/About-Mental-Illness\/Treatments\/Mental-Health-Medications\/Types-of-Medication\/Sertraline-(Zoloft)\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Short-term studies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have shown that antidepressants increased the risk of suicidality in children, adolescents, and young adults compared to a placebo.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> However, people of any age who take Zoloft should be monitored, so seek medical advice right away <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if you\u2019re taking Zoloft and start to have mood changes and\/or suicidal thoughts or behaviors.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"contraindications\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contraindications<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zoloft is not safe for everyone.
