These medications include monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), antihypertensives, and anesthetics. Taking these drugs with Ritalin or Adderall may increase the risk of cardiovascular effects, such as changes in blood pressure or heart rate.<\/p>\n<p>Ritalin and Adderall can also interact with serotonergic drugs, including many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/blog\/side-effects-of-antidepressants\/\">antidepressants<\/a> such as fluoxetine and paroxetine. Taking these drugs together may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to Ritalin, Adderall may potentially interact with more drugs. Adderall is processed more heavily by certain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK548941\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">liver enzymes<\/a>, such as those belonging to the CYP2D6 family. People with a history of heart problems, such as heart arrhythmia or coronary artery disease, should <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/drugs\/drug-safety-and-availability\/fda-drug-safety-communication-safety-review-update-medications-used-treat-attention\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">use caution<\/a> when taking these drugs.<\/p>\n<p>Ritalin and Adderall can also cause increased blood pressure and heart rate.
