The Anxiety and Depression Association of America (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/adaa.org\/understanding-anxiety\/facts-statistics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ADAA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) estimate that over 20% of adults in the United States will develop MDD at some point in their life. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mental health conditions<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are not always adequately treated or treated at all. Many factors contribute to that trend including an inability to recognize signs and symptoms and stereotypes about the conditions. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celexa<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (citalopram) and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zoloft<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sertraline<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) are two <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">antidepressant medications<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that treat the symptoms of depression.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"drug-overview-differences\">What are the main differences between Celexa and Zoloft?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/prescription\/celexa\/what-is\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celexa<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a prescription medication indicated in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">treatment of depression<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Higher levels of serotonin are associated with improved mood and energy levels. The active ingredient, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/prescription\/citalopram-hydrobromide\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">citalopram<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, has two isomers in its formulation, R-citalopram and S-citalopram. The S-isomer is primarily responsible for the serotonin blockade that makes citalopram effective.
