Polymorphisms (genetic variants found in a given population) of the estrogen receptor gene are associated with variations in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">triglyceride<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HDL<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> levels. It is important to only take the dosage of medication that was prescribed. While fatal overdose with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crestor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is unlikely, if you believe you have taken too much medication or if you have taken too much medication and have kidney or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">liver disease<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, contact the Poison Control Centers at 800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical treatment right away.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Restrictions: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crestor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is absolutely contraindicated for use in the following individuals:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those with a known hypersensitivity to the drug or components in the drug<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individuals with acute or active <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">liver disease<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which may include anyone with unexplained, persistent elevations in hepatic transaminases<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nursing mothers\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hepatic transaminases, enzymes in the liver, may be persistently elevated while taking this medication. Individuals with acute <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">liver disease<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> should not take this medication. Individuals with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">liver disease<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from chronic alcohol use are known to have higher levels of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rosuvastatin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the blood. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Liver enzymes<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> should be monitored before and during treatment. High liver enzymes usually indicate liver impairment or damage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Renal impairment and dose adjustment<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individuals with mild to moderate renal impairment do not require dose adjustment when taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crestor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, exposure to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rosuvastatin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is increased to a clinically significant extent in individuals with severe renal impairment who are not receiving hemodialysis. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crestor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dosing should be adjusted for individuals with severe renal impairment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teratogenic effects\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crestor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is Pregnancy Category X and is absolutely contraindicated for use in pregnant women. Serum cholesterol and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">triglycerides<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> increase during pregnancy as cholesterol and lipid products are necessary for the growth of the developing fetus. As such, lipid-lowering agents, including <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crestor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, should not be used during pregnancy. There is no known clinical benefit of using this medication while pregnant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Breastfeeding<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> mothers<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Statins<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been shown to be in human breast milk. In animal studies, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rosuvastatin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was shown to be in breast milk at three times higher concentrations than measured in plasma. If <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crestor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is required to be used in nursing mothers, they should be advised not to nurse their infants. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Statins<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can also cause serious adverse reactions in infants.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individuals of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asian<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> descent<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Laboratory studies have demonstrated almost a two-fold increase of serum <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rosuvastatin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> levels in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asian<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> patients when compared to Caucasian patients. Therefore, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crestor<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dosage should be adjusted for individuals of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asian<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> descent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individuals with hypothyroidism<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hypothyroidism is a well-known cause of lipid abnormalities and is associated with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">atherosclerosis, cholesterol plaque accumulation on artery walls<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Individuals who have <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thyroid<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> disease are at an increased risk of developing SAMS and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rhabdomyolysis<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> while taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">statins<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
