Taking one of these drugs by itself is usually not a problem. When combined, however, serotonin-raising drugs can overload the brain with serotonin causing mild to severe symptoms. The most severe cases will require hospitalization. Get medical attention if any signs of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serotonin syndrome<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are noticed, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changes in mental state such as agitation, confusion, hallucinations, or coma<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Movement problems such as loss of coordination, tremors, twitching, rigid muscles, or seizures<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sweating, fever, or flushing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Racing heartbeat<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blood pressure<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> changes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"angle-closure-glaucoma\">Cymbalta and angle-closure glaucoma<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.harvard.edu\/diseases-and-conditions\/narrow_angles_a_tip-off_to_eyesight_risk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Angle-closure<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">glaucoma<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> happens when a narrow opening (angle) between the iris and cornea closes. This opening drains fluid from the eye, so when it closes, fluid builds up rapidly in the eye, and the increase in fluid pressure can lead to blindness if untreated. People with \u201cnarrow angles\u201d are most vulnerable to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">angle-closure<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">glaucoma<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cymbalta<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dilates the pupils, raising the risk of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">angle closure<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Some will get better as the body adjusts to the drug or the underlying depression or anxiety improves. Other <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">common side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will improve about one or two days after the last dose is taken. A few <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">common side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, like <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">weight loss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, may take a few weeks to return to normal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serious side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may take longer to resolve even after the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cymbalta<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been stopped. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serotonin syndrome<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> requires that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cymbalta<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> be completely stopped and takes about two to three days to get better, but the most severe cases may take weeks to get better. Low blood sodium will also require <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cymbalta<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to be stopped and may require up to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/16896026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">two weeks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of medical treatment.
