A small percentage will experience memory impairment or have difficulty thinking and concentrating. Impairment significantly raises the risk of falls, injuries, and accidents. People taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> should be cautious about driving, operating machinery, or engaging in anything that might cause injury. They should also be aware that they can be convicted of a DUI if any of the drug is detected in a blood test. People on <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> should also avoid taking anything else that will worsen mental impairment. Most minor <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, however, fade within a day of taking the last dose. Many <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, such as mental impairment, do get better over time as the body develops a tolerance for the drug. Unfortunately, tolerance means that the medicine becomes less beneficial, as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serious side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fade after the medicine is stopped. However, drug abuse and withdrawal could take weeks, months, or even years to resolve or treat effectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"warnings\">Clonazepam contraindications &amp; warnings<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">benzodiazepines<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, carry similar risks. At the top of the list is the potential for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">physical dependence<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, drug abuse, and withdrawal, but problems can be caused by certain pre-existing conditions, too.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abuse and dependence<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The longer <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is taken, the more likely the body will develop dependence and tolerance. Dependence often involves drug cravings and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">withdrawal symptoms<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Tolerance reduces the effects of the drug, requiring larger doses to maintain the desired effect. For these reasons, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">long-term use<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is avoided.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Substance abuse is a serious hazard when taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">benzodiazepines<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. About <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK482238\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1\u20132%<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of people in the U.S. misuse or have misused a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">benzodiazepine<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> abuse can lead to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serious side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, hazardous <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">drug interactions<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and potentially <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">life-threatening<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> overdose.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is only intended as a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">short-term<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">treatment option<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, particularly for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">panic disorder<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is taken for longer than two to four weeks, discontinuation can produce <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">withdrawal symptoms<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that typically last for 10 to 14 days. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> must be discontinued in a gradually decreasing dose supervised by a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">healthcare provider<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to avoid withdrawal. Even with a tapered dose, some <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">withdrawal symptoms<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may be experienced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The severity of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> withdrawal will depend on how long the medication has been used, in what doses, and how quickly the medication is discontinued. About <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzoinfo.com\/protracted-withdrawal-syndrome\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10\u201315%<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of patients who have taken a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">benzodiazepine<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for over four weeks will experience protracted withdrawal, even if the doses were steadily decreased at the end. These long-term withdrawal effects can last anywhere from six to 18 months after <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been discontinued.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overdose<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> overdose requires immediate <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medical attention<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, particularly if <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been taken with other drugs such as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">opioids<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If an overdose is suspected, call a poison helpline or get emergency medical treatment. Signs of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> overdose include somnolence, confusion, slowed reflexes, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">muscle weakness<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and coma.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Restrictions<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Though <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is widely prescribed, some people may not be able to take this drug safely. Others may require careful monitoring for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Contraindications: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People who are allergic to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">benzodiazepines<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will not be given <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clonazepam<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
