In the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/label\/2011\/021742s013lbl.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">manufacturer clinical trial<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it was determined that the discontinuation rate due to side effects among nebivolol treated patients was low (2.8%) versus the placebo treated patients (2.2%). The most common adverse effects that led to discontinuation of Bystolic were headache (0.4%), nausea (0.2%) and bradycardia (0.2%).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If any of these side effects continue after several weeks, are bothersome, or worsen over time, patients should contact their doctor to discuss treatment. If an allergic reaction is suspected, a doctor should be contacted immediately.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"bystolic-contraindications-warnings\">Bystolic contraindications &amp; warnings<\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"abrupt-withdrawal\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abrupt withdrawal\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bystolic should not be immediately stopped in people with coronary artery disease. The following are medications and medication classes that should be avoided:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Digoxin:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The heart failure treatment and abnormal heartbeat medication, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/prescription\/digoxin?q=Digoxin%20(Digox)\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">digoxin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, can slow down the heart rate. It should not be taken with Bystolic, which can also slow the heart, as patients would be at risk for dangerously slow heartbeat.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Calcium channel blockers:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> These <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/drug-classes\/calcium-channel-blockers\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blood pressure\/heart medications<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (such as verapamil and diltiazem) can negatively affect the way the heart works if taken with Bystolic. Abruptly stopping Bystolic can be dangerous, especially for those with coronary artery disease. People could develop withdrawal-like effects including chest pain, heart attack, or abnormal heartbeats. If Bystolic needs to be stopped, patients should work with their doctors to slowly reduce the dose over one to two weeks to discontinuation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"3-tell-the-doctor-about-all-medications-being-taken\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Tell the doctor about all medications being taken<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some medications can cause dangerous drug interactions if taken with Bystolic. Many medications can cause added slowing of the heartbeat when taken with Bystolic, like digoxin, other beta-blockers, and rivastigmine.
