Ibuprofen is the most commonly prescribed painkiller for children and adults. But if your pain is long-lasting, Naproxen is a better option, because a dose lasts up to 12 hours.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Acetaminophen and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/prescription\/aspirin-low-dose\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">low-dose aspirin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have generally been considered the safest over-the-counter analgesics during pregnancy, Dr. Ulm says. And children can take <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthychildren.org\/English\/safety-prevention\/at-home\/medication-safety\/Pages\/Ibuprofen-for-Fever-and-Pain.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ibuprofen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (when over 6 months of age) or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthychildren.org\/English\/safety-prevention\/at-home\/medication-safety\/Pages\/Acetaminophen-for-Fever-and-Pain.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">acetaminophen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (from birth) as long as they&#8217;re given a weight-based pediatric dose.
