However, in some people, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">valproic acid<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can cause significant <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">liver problems,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including excess ammonia (hyperammonemia), liver injury, liver failure, and, in children, a condition similar to Reye&rsquo;s syndrome. People taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">valproic acid<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> should have regular blood tests to measure liver enzymes. Usually, the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hair loss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> caused by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">valproic acid<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/conditions\/hair-loss-treatment-and-medications\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">partly reversible<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when the drug is stopped.
