It\u2019s commonly prescribed to patients with atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), individuals who have a higher risk of stroke, or those who are at risk of blood clots after a hip replacement or knee replacement surgery. While this potentially life-saving drug is a popular choice, it can also cost a pretty penny.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-much-does-xarelto-cost\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How much does Xarelto cost?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you were to purchase a 30-day supply of 20 mg tablets of Xarelto, it <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/prescription\/xarelto\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">could cost $697<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> without insurance. For people with Medicare, depending on which Part D plan they use for prescription drug coverage, Xarelto may cost anywhere from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/blog\/xarelto-assistance-for-medicare-patients\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$630 to $5,029<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> yearly. Eligible patients can get a 30-day supply for $85 or a 90-day supply for $240, which is a bit of extra savings at only $80 per month, using their copay card. For example, \u201cwarfarin is a less expensive alternative to Xarelto,\u201d McDermott says. \u201cHowever, warfarin requires regular blood tests (PT\/INR) to monitor its effectiveness and may interact with certain foods and medications, so it may not be appropriate for everyone.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOne of the best and cost-effective alternatives to Xarelto is the Watchman implant,\u201d says Clark. \u201cThis is a small device that the doctor inserts into the left atrial appendage that acts almost like a parachute to assist your heart in pumping blood. The procedure takes about 30 minutes, and 96% of patients can stop taking blood thinners within 45 days.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While this surgery can be quite expensive, often ranging from $12,000 to $18,000, many insurance companies will help offset these costs.
