While the regimen was successful in aiding weight loss for many, fenfluramine specifically was later found to have fatal hypertension and heart valve effects. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fenfluramine was withdrawn from the market after billions of dollars in legal damages were awarded to survivors and victims&#8217; families. Phentermine was not shown to have these effects and could remain on the market as a prescription appetite suppressant.
