It is indicated in the treatment of nodular acne that is resistant to other forms of treatment. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is not a first-line treatment for acne. Your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">healthcare<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">provider<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will try other medications to treat your acne, alone or in combination. You may try several oral and topical acne treatment options before <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is deemed appropriate for your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">severe acne<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> works by reducing sebum production on the surface of the skin. Sebum is the medical term for the oily secretions that occur on the skin. Sebum is known to clog pores and hold onto bacteria on the skin&rsquo;s surface. This propagates the formation of nodular acne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When is it appropriate to use <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">? There are a few different factors to this. First, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is approved for the treatment of a particular type of acne. The acne must consist of multiple nodular lesions where the lesions are 5mm in diameter or more. Patients must be at least 12 years old and verified not pregnant. Female patients must have a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">negative pregnancy test<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before filling each 30-day prescription. This is verified and tracked via a risk evaluation and mitigation strategies (REMS) system known as iPLEDGE that is accessed by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prescribers<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and pharmacies. Females must also agree to utilize a form of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contraception<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> while on <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or its generic products. It is important that a female patient does not conceive while taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as there is a risk of significant birth defects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prior to the initiation of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, patients will try other types of therapy to avoid the potential for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serious side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if possible. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are two common over-the-counter topical products that many acne patients try first. These can be found in washes, gels, creams, or medicated pads for application. There are also topical <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">retinoid<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> creams such as Differin (adapalene) and Retin-A (tretinoin). There are a variety of oral antibiotics appropriate for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">acne treatment<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well. Vibramycin (doxycycline), EES (erythromycin), and Bactrim DS (trimethoprim\/sulfamethoxazole) are each recommended as options by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aad.org\/member\/clinical-quality\/guidelines\/acne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Academy of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dermatology<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If these options or a combination are unsuccessful, your prescriber may deem Accutane an appropriate option<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"common-side-effects-of-accutane\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Common side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most common and frequently occurring <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are back pain, high <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">triglycerides<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (hypertriglyceridemia), and arthralgia. Each of these occurs in more than 1 in 5 patients who take <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailymed.nlm.nih.gov\/dailymed\/drugInfo.cfm?setid=5b524a51-a16b-496e-b764-11c98c479c3651-a16b-496e-b764-11c98c479c36.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><\/a>,<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> according to the manufacturer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other adverse events associated with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Musculoskeletal pain (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">joint pain<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elevated hepatic enzymes (liver enzymes)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hypercholesterolemia<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Weight loss<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hair loss<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vomiting<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Weakness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xerostomia (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dry mouth<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xerosis (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dry skin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xerophthalmia (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dry eyes<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sun sensitivity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nose bleeds<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"serious-side-effects-of-accutane\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serious side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teratogenesis (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">severe birth defects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visual impairment<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toxic epidermal necrolysis<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suicidal ideation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stroke<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stevens-Johnson Syndrome<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spontaneous fetal abortion<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seizures<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Retinal hemorrhage<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proteinuria<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pancreatitis<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Night blindness<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"accutane-and-hair-loss\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hair loss<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hair loss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is not one of the most commonly occurring adverse events with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> use, it can be one of the more bothersome <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">possible side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for those in which it occurs. A recent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9447463\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">retrospective review study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found a very low incidence of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hair loss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> associated with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> overall. The range of patients who experience <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hair loss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is estimated to be between 0.28% and 12%. There are many other factors to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hair loss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that make it difficult to ascertain what <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hair loss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would be attributable to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> use versus other external factors. However, in those where alopecia (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hair loss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) occurred, it tended to be in patients who were older at the time of treatment, had higher cumulative doses of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">isotretinoin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and had longer durations of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">isotretinoin treatment<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Unfortunately, even if you stop <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hair loss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may continue.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"accutane-and-depression\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and depression<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may have heard that the use of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is associated with the induction of depression or with higher rates of depression. In fact, many published <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC1463189\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">studies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> do not support this association at all. Patients with acne have <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9180136\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">higher rates<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of depression regardless of the type of treatment they are taking. Actually, there is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/28291553\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">data<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to support that symptoms of depression and overall <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mental health<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> improve with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This could be related to the negative social aspects of the presence of acne and how that affects a person&rsquo;s self-esteem. As they feel better about their skin and outward appearance, this could have a positive effect on the symptoms of depression.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the association of acne and depression, your doctor may inquire about any history of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mental health problems<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with you or your close family before <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prescribing<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">brand-name<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"accutane-and-weight-gain\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and weight gain<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been shown to be associated with<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6898905\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> insulin resistance<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This incidence is typically associated with an induction of diabetes and weight gain. However, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5004210\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">data<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> does not show that active <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> treatment is linked to an increase in body mass index (BMI) anymore or less than other non-<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">retinoid<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> treatments for acne. There may be a risk for latent diabetes related to insulin resistance, which is masked by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> treatment and no gain in weight. Some patients may even lose weight. Once <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is stopped, patients with pre-existing risk factors may experience weight gain and symptoms of diabetes, as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may increase <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blood sugar<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-soon-do-accutane-side-effects-start\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How soon do <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> start?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects of isotretinoin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> products may be apparent within one to two weeks of starting treatment. Dry lips and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dry skin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are typically some of the first symptoms to appear. It is important to note that for many patients, the acne itself may actually worsen for the first one to two months of treatment before it starts to improve. This is related to the process of inhibiting sebum production and initial changes to the skin&rsquo;s surface.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-long-do-accutane-side-effects-last\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How long do <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can occur throughout the duration of treatment. Typically, treatment lasts <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aad.org\/public\/diseases\/acne\/derm-treat\/isotretinoin\/faqs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4-5 months<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, though it may be longer or shorter depending on your acne case and your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">provider<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-are-the-long-term-side-effects-of-accutane\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What are the long-term <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When taken according to approved packaging instructions, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and its generics have <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/7918010\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">no serious long-term effects<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the patient being treated. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dry skin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, specifically the lips, may persist for quite some time while on <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and following treatment. This should be mitigated using skin <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">moisturizer<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and lip <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">moisturizer<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to prevent skin breaks and subsequent infections that may become troublesome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birth defects associated with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> use during pregnancy can cause permanent disability or disfigurement of the child.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"accutane-contraindications\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> contraindications<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is mandated to have a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailymed.nlm.nih.gov\/dailymed\/drugInfo.cfm?setid=5b524a51-a16b-496e-b764-11c98c479c36\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">boxed warning<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Food and Drug Administration<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FDA<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and absolutely can not be used by patients who are pregnant or may become pregnant. You must agree to use one of the approved <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">forms of birth control<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> while taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If you are female, your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prescriber<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will require a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">negative pregnancy test<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> result prior to releasing each month&rsquo;s prescription. Your pharmacy is also required to verify these results before dispensing the medication. This is all recorded in the REMS program known as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">iPLEDGE<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">healthcare<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">provider<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is not allowed to prescribe <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> without registering and participating in this program. If liver enzymes do not normalize in a timely fashion, your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prescriber<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will likely stop <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and do more tests.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inflammatory Bowel Disease<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (IBS)<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Symptoms associated with IBS, such as abdominal pain, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rectal bleeding<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and diarrhea, can occur in patients on <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;and may persist even after discontinuing therapy.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skeletal<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may be linked to lower bone mineral density and leave patients at a higher risk of bone fractures, osteoporosis, and delayed bone healing.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vision impairment<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Decreased <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">night vision<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or night blindness, as well as other visual impairments, can occur with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You should stop <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> immediately if they do and consult an ophthalmologist.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the FDA, There are no active recalls for Accutane or any related isotretinoin products. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is not a controlled substance but must be dispensed in accordance with the REMS guidelines. It is not habit-forming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> should be administered for up to 20 weeks or until 70% of the acne has cleared, whichever comes first. Doses are typically guided by the patient&rsquo;s weight. Children are dosed at 0.5 mg to 1 mg per kg of body weight daily. Adults are dosed up to 2 mg per kg per day. Still, it is important to monitor for the more serious adverse events and interactions listed above and discuss with your <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prescriber<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> immediately if they occur. You should not do any skin <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">waxing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> while taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accutane<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
