The SSA offers two types of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/soarworks.samhsa.gov\/article\/overview-of-social-security-disability-programs-ssi-and-ssdi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social Security disability benefits<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for those who meet the agency\u2019s strict definition of \u201cdisabled.\u201d This means you must develop a severe medical ailment on the list of disabling conditions and then meet other criteria for each type of benefit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncoa.org\/article\/what-is-considered-a-disability-by-social-security\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a benefit provided to people who meet the SSA&#8217;s criteria for disability, have worked in a job in which you paid Social Security taxes, and are unable to work due to a disabling condition that is expected to last at least one year or be fatal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/benefits\/disability\/qualify.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supplemental Security Income (SSI)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a benefit provided to people who have low income and resources alongside\u00a0<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blindness or a disabling condition, OR;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are above 65 years old.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"what-conditions-qualify-for-disability\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What conditions qualify for disability?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Impairments that qualify are divided into two sections: Part A for adults and Part B for people younger than 18. As with other disability claims, the SSA&#8217;s eligibility criteria for a disabling digestive system condition is strict. Medical evidence\u2014such as records of your response to treatments and endoscopy, CT scan, and MRI results\u2014determines eligibility.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"6-genitourinary-conditions\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6. Genitourinary conditions<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/medicine-and-dentistry\/genitourinary-system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Genitourinary disorders<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> involve the reproductive and urinary body systems.
