Is <\/span>meloxicam<\/span> safe to take every day?<\/span><\/h2>\n

For short-term use, it\u2019s perfectly safe to <\/span>take meloxicam<\/span> daily\u2014as long as you aren\u2019t allergic and it\u2019s not contraindicated with any of your medical conditions. <\/span>Meloxicam<\/span> is typically used for 10 to 14 days to manage pain, but treatment duration can vary depending on the specific <\/span>medical condition<\/span> being treated. Your <\/span>healthcare provider<\/span> will likely take you off it once your discomfort is under control.<\/span><\/p>\n

The higher the dosage, the greater the risks of complications with daily use. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>You always want to use the lowest effective <\/span>dose of meloxicam<\/span><\/a> for the shortest duration necessary,\u201d says <\/span>Erika Gray<\/span><\/a>,<\/span> Pharm.D., chief medical officer and co-founder of <\/span>Toolbox Genomics<\/span><\/a>, a DNA and epigenetic testing company. Be sure to work with your provider to determine the appropriate therapeutic dose for your condition.<\/span><\/p>\n

You should always <\/span>take meloxicam tablets<\/span>, capsules, or oral suspension exactly as your provider directs. What happens if you <\/span>take meloxicam<\/span> every day?<\/span><\/h2>\n

However, if a <\/span>healthcare professional<\/span> has prescribed <\/span>meloxicam<\/span> for a long period, they likely weighed the risks versus benefits before going this route and will be checking in on you regularly. Your provider may lengthen or shorten the duration of your treatment with <\/span>meloxicam<\/span> based on how much pain you are in, how well-controlled your condition is, and other health conditions you may have, including pre-existing heart or stomach issues, says Dr. Barat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meloxicam<\/span> (<\/span>brand name<\/span> Mobic<\/span>) is a <\/span>non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug<\/span> (<\/span>NSAID<\/span>)<\/span><\/a>. It is in the same drug class as <\/span>ibuprofen<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>aspirin<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>naproxen<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>diclofenac<\/span><\/a>.
