Manufactured by Tarsus Pharmaceuticals, it is the only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formularywatch.com\/view\/fda-approves-xdemvy-for-eye-infection-caused-by-mites\">FDA-approved<\/a> treatment that targets and kills Demodex mites that cause Demodex blepharitis. Like all medications, side effects may occur when taking Xdemvy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some Xdemvy side effects do not require medical attention. Commonly reported side effects typically resolve as your body adjusts to the medication. Therefore, the side effects reported may not always be applicable to patients being treated outside of trials.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"common-side-effects-of-xdemvy\">Common side effects of Xdemvy<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xdemvy was evaluated in 833 patients with Demodex blepharitis in two randomized, controlled trials over the duration of 42 days. The most common side effects of Xdemvy were stinging and burning (10%).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"serious-side-effects-of-xdemvy\">Serious side effects of Xdemvy<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consult your physician if you experience any of the severe Xdemvy adverse events listed below. Some of these side effects may require immediate medical help.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other ocular adverse reactions reported in less than 2% of Xdemvy patients were chalazions (eyelid reactions with red bumps), styes, and punctate keratitis (dead cells on the surface of the cornea).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"signs-of-an-xdemvy-allergy\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Signs of an Xdemvy allergy:<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skin rash<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Difficulty breathing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swelling of the throat, lips, or face<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wheezing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Runny nose<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Watery or itchy eyes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anaphylaxis is a rare, but life-threatening, allergic reaction. Signs of anaphylaxis include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Closing of the throat and airways<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nausea<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abdominal pain<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vomiting<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diarrhea<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dizziness or lightheadedness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rapid or weak pulse<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reduced blood pressure<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seizures<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Loss of consciousness<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"xdemvy-interactions\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xdemvy interactions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remove contact lenses before using Xdemvy. However, systemic exposure to Xdemvy from ocular administration is low. In animal reproduction studies, Xdemvy did not produce malformations at clinically relevant doses.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"xdemvy-while-breastfeeding\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xdemvy while breastfeeding<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are no data available on the presence of Xdemvy in human milk, the effects on the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">breastfed infant, or the effects on milk production.
