But medications like Ozempic are injected straight into subcutaneous (under the skin) tissue. Although they both have the same active ingredient, \u201cthe FDA has only approved Ozempic for Type 2 diabetes, and the brand name medication Wegovy is only approved for weight loss,\u201d explains Pepin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like Ozempic, Wegovy can be taken with or without food. One of the main <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/blog\/wegovy-vs-ozempic\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">differences between Ozempic and Wegovy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the dosage. Both drugs start at 0.25 milligrams (mg) once weekly. But while Ozempic\u2019s maximum dose is 2 mg per week, Wegovy\u2019s maximum dose is 2.4 mg per week.
