These include some antibiotics and Methotrexate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Macrolide antibiotics, sulfa antibiotics, and tetracyclines are antibiotics that treat bacterial infections by stopping the growth of bacteria. Lab models have shown a possible <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK482250\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reduction in efficacy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when these antibiotics are used with amoxicillin. If your cat is allergic to penicillin or similar medicines, it\u2019s recommended that they avoid this antibiotic. If you\u2019re right-handed, use your left hand.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tilt the cat\u2019s head back, and your cat will open its lower jaw in response.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hold the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amoxicillin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pill or capsule with your dominant hand between the thumb and pointer finger. You can encourage the cat to swallow by blowing on its nose or stroking your finger on its neck.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re uncomfortable placing your fingers in your feline\u2019s mouth, use a pilling device instead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re using the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">oral suspension<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">broad-spectrum antibiotic<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amoxicillin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you\u2019ll squirt it into a pouch between their teeth and cheek using a syringe or liquid dropper. You can encourage them to swallow by blowing on their nose or stroking their neck.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can contact your veterinarian if you have difficulty giving your cat <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amoxicillin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amoxicillin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may be given without food or around meal times, depending on the cat&#8217;s preference and any stomach upset that may occur,\u201d Dr. Ushi says.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be sure to monitor your cat for signs of stomach upset after they\u2019ve taken <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amoxicillin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIf your cat vomits after getting a pill, wait until the next scheduled dose and give it with food,\u201d Dr. Mader says. \u201cIf it still vomits, advise your veterinarian, as switching to a different antibiotic may be necessary.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, Dr. Ushi doesn\u2019t recommend mixing <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amoxicillin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with food. \u201cI discourage pet owners from mixing the medication with food because there is a good chance that the cat can smell it and will not eat the food,\u201d she says. You can speak with your veterinarian for instructions and additional insight on giving food with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amoxicillin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to your cat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may forget to give your feline a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dose of amoxicillin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
