To reduce heat and humidity, Dr. Purdy recommends using a fan, air conditioning, or keeping the windows open if you experience night sweats.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"use-moisture-wicking-sleepwear-and-bedding\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use moisture-wicking sleepwear and bedding<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose loose-fitting pajamas that are made from moisture-wicking fabrics to help keep you dry throughout the night, says Dr. Ormond.<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4853167\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Research<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> suggests that fabrics like wool and cotton are ideal for sleeping. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, yoga, and meditation can help.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"take-medications\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take medications<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your night sweats are caused by an underlying medical condition, your provider may prescribe medications to treat the condition and alleviate the symptoms, says Dr. Purdy. If you&rsquo;re on medication, take them as indicated by your healthcare provider.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"maintain-a-healthy-weight\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maintain a healthy weight<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being overweight or obese can increase the likelihood of night sweats, so maintaining a healthy weight through diet and exercise is important, advises Dr. Purdy. According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2017\/05\/170531084443.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">research<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, obesity can also contribute to more severe vasomotor symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"avoid-cigarettes\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avoid cigarettes<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smoking can increase body temperature and stimulate sweating, so it&#8217;s best to avoid cigarettes before bedtime, says Dr. Purdy.
