Januvia and Jardiance are two commonly prescribed oral medications used for Type 2 diabetes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Januvia, made by Merck Sharp & Dohme, is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to improve blood sugar control in adults with <\/span>Type 2 diabetes<\/span><\/a> when used with diet and exercise. <\/span>It contains the active ingredient <\/span>sitagliptin<\/span><\/a>, which is part of a drug class called d<\/span>ipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. Other drugs in this class include <\/span>Nesina<\/span><\/a> (alogliptin) and <\/span>Tradjenta<\/span><\/a> (linagliptin). Jardiance <\/span>contains the active ingredient <\/span>empagliflozin<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>is part of a drug class called <\/span>sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors<\/span><\/a>. Other examples of drugs in this class include <\/span>Farxiga<\/span><\/a> (dapagliflozin) and <\/span>Invokana<\/span><\/a> (canagliflozin).
