How Medicare covers prescription drugs<\/span><\/h2>\n

However, she notes that most Medicare drug plans have their own formulary, or list of drugs that are covered, and not all Part D plans have the same requirements or restrictions (like <\/span>prior authorization<\/span><\/a>) for Vraylar. You should check with your specific Medicare plan to verify coverage.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the cost of Vraylar on Medicare?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Because Medicare coverage goes through several phases during a calendar year, it\u2019s difficult to estimate the average cost of Vraylar on Medicare. But you may be able to do some calculations yourself if you have information about your specific Medicare Part D plan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSince Vraylar is typically a Tier 4 medication with most plans, the deductible will likely apply,\u201d says Medicare expert <\/span>Alexandria Roland<\/span>. \u201cThis means you\u2019ll pay the full cost of the drug until the deductible is met, and then you\u2019ll have a coinsurance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That coinsurance, Roland says, could range from 35%\u201350% of the drug cost, averaging out to a few hundred dollars per month<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keep in mind that the thresholds for your deductible change year-to-year on Medicare. Starting in 2026, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, people on Medicare Part D will have their annual out-of-pocket costs capped at $2,100.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vraylar coupons for Medicare<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are <\/span>ways to save on Vraylar<\/span><\/a>, but not all are available to Medicare beneficiaries. For example, the drug\u2019s manufacturer, AbbVie, offers a savings program called <\/span>VrayPay<\/span><\/a> that can bring the price of Vraylar down to as little as $0 per 30-day supply, but it\u2019s only available to people with commercial insurance, not people on Medicare.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, if your Medicare Part D copay is too high or if Vraylar isn\u2019t on your plan\u2019s drug formulary, you can choose not to use your Medicare coverage and instead pay for your prescription using a <\/span>SingleCare prescription discount card<\/span><\/a>. You may automatically qualify for Extra Help, or you may need to <\/span>submit an application through the Social Security Administration<\/span><\/a>. Eligibility is based on income and resource limits (e.g., money in stocks, bonds, and bank accounts). <\/span>\u201cIf you are approved, Extra Help can lower your premium and cost-sharing,\u201d Roland says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vraylar alternatives<\/span><\/h3>\n

There is no generic version of Vraylar, which <\/span>contributes to its higher-than-average cost for an antipsychotic drug<\/span><\/a>. However,\u00a0 if the cost of Vraylar is not affordable for you and you\u2019re unable to use any other savings strategies, talk to your healthcare provider. There may be another type of antipsychotic medication you can take that\u2019s more affordable. For example, <\/span>Seroquel<\/span><\/a> retails at around $257 for a 30-day supply and also treats symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric disorders.<\/span><\/p>\n
