Victoza works by helping the body make more insulin (to help lower blood sugar levels) and less glucagon (because glucagon increases blood sugar). It also delays stomach emptying. Jardiance is made by the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. It is available as an oral tablet taken by mouth once daily.
