Ozempic<\/span><\/a>, which contains the active ingredient <\/span>semaglutide<\/span>, is a brand-name medication <\/span>approved<\/span><\/a> by the <\/span>Food and Drug Administration<\/span> (<\/span>FDA<\/span>) to manage blood glucose levels in people with <\/span>Type 2 diabetes<\/span><\/a>. It\u2019s also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems in people with both <\/span>Type 2 diabetes<\/span> and heart disease. As a once-weekly injection, <\/span>Ozempic<\/span> belongs to a class of drugs called <\/span>glucagon-like peptide 1 (<\/span>GLP-1<\/span>) receptor agonists<\/span><\/a> and helps lower <\/span>blood sugars<\/span> by boosting insulin levels and lowering glucagon (a hormone that signals your liver to make glucose). In recent years, <\/span>Ozempic<\/span> has been in the headlines for its off-label use for <\/span>weight loss<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Adderall<\/span><\/a> is also a brand-name drug that\u2019s <\/span>used to treat<\/span><\/a> attention deficit hyperactivity disorder<\/span> (<\/span>ADHD<\/span>)<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>narcolepsy<\/span><\/a> (a sleep condition that makes it difficult to stay awake).
