The risk for adverse gastrointestinal events, such as stomach ulcers or stomach bleeding, is higher when taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ibuprofen<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, especially with long-term use.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"considerations-for-tylenol\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Considerations for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&ldquo;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is filtered through the liver and therefore would put stress on the liver if taken in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">high doses<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,&rdquo; said Dr. Gerling. &ldquo;That being said, patients with liver disorders should not take <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along with individuals with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">liver disease<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, those who frequently drink alcohol should also use caution when taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">acetaminophen<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-based medications. Since alcohol is also processed in the liver, it can cause additional stress on the vital organ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Gerling advised that many <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pain medications<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are blended with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so before taking additional <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on top of these medications, you should consult with a medical professional.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is safer for more populations than <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ibuprofen<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and has fewer <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so healthcare providers more commonly recommend it for treating back pain.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"tylenol-vs-ibuprofen-dosage-for-back-pain\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> vs. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ibuprofen<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dosage for back pain<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When using <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for back pain, you should go off the standard dosage.
