He says this goes for lower and higher doses as long as patients listen to their healthcare provider\u2019s directions around the use.<\/span><\/p>\n

Danielle Kelvas<\/a>, MD, a primary care physician at the HCG Institute, agrees. \u201cThey do not have known drug interactions,\u201d she says. \u201cThis remains true regardless of dosage and other factors, like age and condition, unless specified by a healthcare provider.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Dasgupta says this general safety factor extends to different antibiotics when combined with <\/span>Benadryl<\/span><\/a>, but double-check with a medical professional or pharmacist.<\/span><\/p>\n

The same goes for a specific antibiotic\u2014amoxicillin\u2014with allergy meds in general. \u201cMost over-the-counter allergy medications can also be safely combined with amoxicillin,\u201d Dr. Dasgupta says.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Kelvas agrees that more general combinations are safe and can even be a smart move. \u201cThis can be helpful in treating symptoms associated with infections, such as allergic reactions or sinus congestion,\u201d she adds.<\/span><\/p>\n

What happens if you take Benadryl and amoxicillin together?<\/b><\/h2>\n

As mentioned, taking Benadryl with amoxicillin is generally safe and shouldn\u2019t result in many or any side effects as a combination.<\/span><\/p>\n

The only thing Dr. Kelvas wants to warn about is drowsiness. \u201cBoth drugs can cause drowsiness, so taking them together may increase this effect,\u201d she says. \u201cAlways monitor your body\u2019s response when taking new medication combinations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
