Keep in mind, too, that any risks associated with these medications increase the longer you take them, which is why abiding by the two- to three-week rule is important. \u201cThe risk of adverse effects also rises with continuous use,\u201d Dr. Soliman stresses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Ormond says there aren\u2019t any known major direct interactions between cyclobenzaprine and naproxen, but there are certain things to consider. \u201cCyclobenzaprine can cause drowsiness, and if you take it with naproxen, which can also cause some stomach irritation, you might feel more tired or experience stomach discomfort,\u201d he explains. \u201cBoth drugs can have side effects, and taking them together might make some of those effects stronger, like dizziness or drowsiness.\u201d Dr. Ormond advises patients to pay close attention to how they are feeling and talk to their healthcare provider if anything feels off.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, according to Dr. Soliman, you should consult with your healthcare provider if you have underlying medical conditions, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gastrointestinal conditions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heart conditions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Liver conditions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kidney conditions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For instance, \u201cin patients suffering from some underlying gastrointestinal disorders, such as peptic ulcers or GERD, using naproxen, which is classified as an NSAID, increases the chances of bleeding, and such patients must therefore exercise care,\u201d Dr. Soliman explains. Here\u2019s Dr. Soliman\u2019s advice: \u201cNaproxen is advised to be taken with food for better results and because it minimizes the risk of side effects,\u201d she shares. \u201cCyclobenzaprine, if needed, may be used at night to alleviate the sedative effect.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-medications-should-you-not-take-with-cyclobenzaprine-or-naproxen\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What medications should you not take with cyclobenzaprine or naproxen?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Combining cyclobenzaprine or naproxen may not be your only concern. If you are taking either cyclobenzaprine or naproxen, you may also want to know what other medication reactions to watch for.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn a nutshell,\u201d says Dr. Ormond, \u201cwhen you are taking cyclobenzaprine, you want to avoid other medications that cause drowsiness, like benzodiazepines, alcohol, or opioids, since these can make you overly sleepy.
