But other side effects, like cold-like symptoms or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">back pain<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, might develop only after taking several doses of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-long-do-repatha-side-effects-last\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How long do <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> side effects last?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The good news is that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">most common side effects<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> don\u2019t last long and tend to lessen over time. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Injection site reactions<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> usually go away in a couple of days, while other symptoms, like <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">muscle pain<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or flu-like feelings, might last a bit longer but are typically manageable,\u201d says Raj Dasgupta, MD, a quadruple board-certified physician specializing in internal medicine, pulmonology, critical care, and sleep medicine, and chief medical adviser for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.garagegymreviews.com\/author\/drraj\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Garage Gym<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Dr. Dasgupta recommends checking in with your doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"are-there-any-long-term-side-effects-of-repatha\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are there any long-term <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects of Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Long-term side effects from taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are rare. For example, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/36031810\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a 2022 study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> examined the long-term effects of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in cardiovascular patients. \u201cThere were no long-term side effects that were found to be different than a patient who was not taking the medication,\u201d said Dylan Huber, Pharm.D., interim director of pharmacy\/pharmacy clinical coordinator at Saint Anthony Hospital in Chicago (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sahchicago.org\/component\/content\/article\/sah-pharmacy?catid=9&amp;highlight=WyJwaGFybWFjeSJd&amp;Itemid=280\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAH Pharmacy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Still, some long-term effects were reported among study participants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI do think it is still important to know about some of the long-term side effects that have been reported,\u201d Huber said, in reference to the 2022 study. These long-term side effects included new-onset diabetes and joint\/<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">muscle pain<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cThe joint\/<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">muscle pain<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would resolve with medication discontinuation,\u201d Huber says. \u201cNew onset diabetes is very uncommon, and the risk is no different than if you were not taking the medication, but it is still important to be aware of.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"repatha-interactions\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> interactions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On a positive note, there are no foods you can\u2019t consume while taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> does not have any known major food or beverage interactions, including alcohol, coffee, or grapefruit,\u201d says Dr. Mandal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That said, since people taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> typically have heart conditions, it\u2019s important to stick to a heart-healthy<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/blog\/heart-healthy-diet\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> diet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> while taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This includes eating foods low in saturated fat, eating plenty of whole grains, prioritizing foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fatty fish, and limiting salt and alcohol intake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Part of the reason <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is less likely to interact with foods you eat is because of how the medication is administered. This is also why it\u2019s less likely to interact with medications. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is given via an injection, which limits the potential for gastrointestinal absorption of food or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">drug interactions<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d shares Claudia Cometa, Pharm.D., founder and CEO at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.consultavanti.com\/team\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avanti Health Consultants<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is unlikely to interact with other medications you are taking, Dr. Dasgupta says that you should stay in touch with your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking both <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/blog\/which-cholesterol-drug-is-safest\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">statin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cIt\u2019s a good idea to tell your doctor about any other medications you\u2019re taking, especially cholesterol drugs like <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">statins<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, since combining them could make <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">muscle pain<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> more likely,\u201d he advises.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"safety-measures-while-using-repatha\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Safety measures while using <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is safe for most individuals, some people should avoid it or speak to a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">healthcare professional<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before taking it. Here\u2019s what to know, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailymed.nlm.nih.gov\/dailymed\/drugInfo.cfm?setid=709338ae-ab8f-44a9-b7d5-abaabec3493a\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DailyMed at the National Institutes of Health<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pregnant women: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clinical trials<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are not available for pregnant people taking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which means it\u2019s not known whether the drug will harm your baby.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Breastfeeding<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: At this time, there is no data on whether <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> enters breast milk, how it affects breastfed babies, or whether it affects milk supply.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is used safely and effectively in children aged 10 and up who have <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HeFH<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), but safety hasn\u2019t been established in younger children.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of this writing, the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FDA<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has never recalled <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and there are no black-box warnings for it. However, in June of 2024, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.repatha.com\/pushtronexsystemupdate\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">manufacturer of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amgen<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) discontinued one <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> product<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatha<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pushtronex<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ae System.
