The good news is that <\/span>Wegovy<\/span>, the same semaglutide injection under a different <\/span>brand name<\/span>, <\/span>is <\/span><\/i>FDA<\/span>-approved for <\/span>weight loss<\/span>. Dr. Ali says most <\/span>insurance companies<\/span> cover <\/span>Wegovy<\/span> for patients with \u201ca BMI of 30 alone, or a BMI of 27 with another medical condition such as diabetes or hypertension.\u201d Dr. Pepin says some <\/span>insurance plans<\/span> may approve <\/span>Ozempic<\/span> for <\/span>weight loss<\/span> if <\/span>Wegovy<\/span> is unavailable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Still, <\/span>drug coverage<\/span> varies according to the <\/span>Aetna plan<\/span>. It\u2019s a good idea to check with <\/span>Aetna<\/span> before assuming <\/span>Ozempic<\/span> or <\/span>Wegovy<\/span> will be covered.<\/span><\/p>\n
