Dr. Patel says these <\/span>GLP-1 receptor agonists<\/span><\/a> might even have benefits beyond obesity treatment. \u201c[They] are showing positive effects on treating <\/span>sleep apnea<\/span><\/a>, renal disease, and inflammation as well,\u201d she says. However, these brand-name injectables probably won\u2019t be cheaper unless a person\u2019s insurance company prefers them to Contrave.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other weight loss drugs include <\/span>Qsymia<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Xenical<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Adipex-P<\/span><\/a>. Of these, only Adipex-P is available as a generic: <\/span>phentermine<\/span><\/a>. It is an older weight loss drug still considered to be effective. As a generic drug, it is also much more affordable, even without insurance, costing about $11<\/span><\/span>\u00a0for 30, 37.5 mg tablets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
