That said, there are other pain medications you can take, and some anti-inflammatory medications that are safer than others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here, we\u2019ll discuss which anti-inflammatory medications you can take with Xarelto and which ones you should avoid.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-anti-inflammatory-drugs-can-you-take-with-xarelto\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What anti-inflammatory drugs can you take with Xarelto?<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most common anti-inflammatory medications are<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/drug-classes\/nsaids\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(NSAIDs), which are pain relievers that can also decrease inflammation in the body. It\u2019s important to be very cautious when it comes to taking Xarelto and NSAIDs, as well as other anti-inflammatory medications.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe big concern when taking anti-inflammatory medications\u2014like ibuprofen or naproxen\u2014along with Xarelto is the risk of bleeding,\u201d Sean Ormond, MD, dual board-certified in anesthesiology and interventional pain management physician at Atlas Pain Specialists, explains. \u201cXarelto already makes your blood less likely to clot (which is good if you&#8217;re at risk for strokes or clots), but NSAIDs can add to that risk by irritating your stomach lining and affecting how your platelets work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the same time, some non-anti-inflammatory pain medications are safe to take with Xarelto. Additionally, some anti-inflammatory medications carry a lower risk of bleeding when combined with Xarelto. Still, these medications should be used cautiously and only under a healthcare provider\u2019s supervision.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"over-the-counter-medications-that-are-safe-to-take-with-tylenol\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over-the-counter medications that are safe to take with Tylenol<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While you have to be cautious when it comes to most over-the-counter anti-inflammatory pain relievers like <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NSAIDs), other over-the-counter pain relievers are generally safe to take.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"tylenol\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/prescription\/tylenol\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tylenol<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Xarelto are typically a safe combination. \u201cAcetaminophen (Tylenol) is generally considered the safest over-the-counter pain reliever to use with Xarelto and other anticoagulants since it does not impair platelet function or increase bleeding risk in the same way NSAIDs do,\u201d Erika Gray, Pharm.D., founder and chief medical officer at MyToolBox Genomics, says. But even Tylenol should be used in moderation, she says, especially in patients with liver disease or who consume more than two alcoholic drinks per day.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"low-dose-aspirin\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Low-dose aspirin<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.xarelto-us.com\/en\/peripheral-artery-disease\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xarelto is indicated for use in combination with low-dose aspirin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to decrease the risk of serious heart issues, heart attacks, and strokes in people with coronary artery disease. It\u2019s also indicated to decrease the risk of reduced blood flow to your legs, amputation, heart issues, and stroke in people with peripheral artery disease. However, it\u2019s vital that you seek medical advice from a healthcare provider before you take low-dose aspirin with Xarelto.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"prescription-medications-safe-to-take-with-xarelto\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prescription medications safe to take with Xarelto<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are certain prescription pain relievers, and even certain prescription anti-inflammatory medications, that may be safer to take with Xarelto.
