What is <\/span>amlodipine<\/span> 10 mg used for?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Amlodipine<\/span> 10 mg for chronic <\/span>hypertension<\/span> is usually limited to those patients warranting combination therapy, with <\/span>blood pressure<\/span> more than 20\/10 mmHg above goal or with a suboptimal response to monotherapy. <\/span>Amlodipine<\/span> 10 mg in these patients would most often be combined with a medication from another prescription drug class for chronic <\/span>hypertension<\/span>, like an <\/span>angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) <\/span>inhibitor<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB)<\/span><\/a>, or <\/span>thiazide diuretic<\/span><\/a>. It does not, however, have any effect on functional status or mortality in these individuals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When used in the therapeutic management of <\/span>Raynaud phenomenon<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>amlodipine<\/span> 10 mg is used to relax and open <\/span>blood vessels<\/span> to improve circulation in those whom suffer from this condition; given its effect on <\/span>blood pressure<\/span>, these patients must be monitored closely for <\/span>amlodipine<\/span>\u2019s impact, particularly since some patients require doses beyond the typical maximum daily dose seen in management of chronic <\/span>hypertension<\/span> and <\/span>angina<\/span>-up to 20 mg per day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What to expect when taking it<\/span><\/h2>\n

Amlodipine<\/span> can be administered without regard to meals. It is available as a tablet in 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg strengths. <\/span>Amlodipine<\/span> is also available as an oral solution with a 1 mg\/mL concentration. Amlodipine<\/span> 10 mg vs. 5 mg<\/span><\/h2>\n

Typically, the decrease in <\/span>blood pressure<\/span> observed with the consumption of <\/span>amlodipine<\/span> is dose-dependent. It therefore isn\u2019t unexpected that the observed decrease in <\/span>blood pressure<\/span> as the dose is titrated from 5 mg to 10 mg decreases both systolic and diastolic <\/span>blood pressure<\/span>, as observed in <\/span>retrospective analyses<\/span><\/a>. How to <\/span>take amlodipine<\/span> 10 mg<\/span><\/h2>\n

Amlodipine<\/span> 10 mg should be taken as advised by a <\/span>healthcare provider<\/span>. Generally, this dose will not be initiated upfront, but <\/span>amlodipine<\/span> will be titrated from a starting dose of 2.5 mg or 5 mg.
