Can you drink coffee on Azstarys?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s generally advised to limit or avoid caffeine while taking any stimulant medications,\u201d says <\/span>Jason Kellogg, MD<\/span><\/a>, psychiatrist and Medical Director of Hotel California by the Sea in Orange County, California. The reason? Caffeine is also a stimulant, so combining the two could exacerbate the side effects of Azstarys.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis could potentially lead to effects like increased heart rate, <\/span>anxiety<\/span><\/a>, insomnia, or jitteriness, particularly in sensitive individuals,\u201d explains <\/span>Ozan Toy, MD<\/span><\/a>, psychiatrist and Chief Medical Officer with Telapsychiatry, a virtual mental health practice. That\u2019s because \u201cboth substances cause these effects directly,\u201d Dr. Toy continues. Additionally, both Azstarys and coffee cause decreased appetite, which could result in unintended weight loss when combined.<\/span><\/p>\n

In other words, while there\u2019s not a direct interaction between coffee and Azstarys, the two together can exacerbate their common side effects. So if you\u2019re prone to getting jitters or <\/span>having trouble sleeping<\/span><\/a> from drinking coffee alone, there\u2019s a strong chance you\u2019ll experience these side effects from combining it with Azstarys.
