No, Mounjaro isn\u2019t insulin. Mounjaro is a <\/span>dual glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP)<\/span><\/a> receptor agonist that helps the body create more insulin naturally.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

GLP-1 and GIP are known as incretin hormones. They stimulate the pancreas\u2019s natural production of insulin after a meal, which helps to stabilize blood sugar levels. People with Type 2 diabetes <\/span>do not respond normally to incretin hormones<\/span><\/a>, and as a result, less insulin is produced.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
