Is there a generic for Ubrelvy?<\/span><\/h2>\n

There is currently no FDA-approved generic version of<\/span> Ubrelvy<\/span><\/a>. Pharmacists are likely to be the first healthcare professionals to find out when the generic version becomes available, according to <\/span>Blair Gingerich<\/span><\/a>, Pharm.D., an ambulatory care pharmacist in northern Indiana<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In general, generic medications become available only after the brand-name drug\u2019s patent and exclusivity rights expire. Drug company AbbVie still holds several patents for Ubrelvy, according to <\/span>Lauren R. Natbony, MD<\/span><\/a>, headache specialist and medical director of Integrative Headache Medicine of New York. \u201d[Some] don’t expire until the mid-2030s or later, making a true generic unlikely before then, unless another company successfully challenges the patents earlier, which is rare,\u201d she says.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
