Depending on the prescription, it\u2019s typically taken every eight or 12 hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For bacterial sinus infections, a provider may prescribe amoxicillin alone or combine it with clavulanate (commonly sold as Augmentin) for more persistent or severe cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen I prescribe amoxicillin or amoxicillin-clavulanate, it\u2019s usually Augmentin twice a day for five to seven days, ten in some serious cases,\u201d Dr. Darji says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For adults and children weighing 40 kg (about 88 pounds) or more, typical dosing ranges from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/drugs-supplements\/amoxicillin-oral-route\/description\/drg-20075356\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">250 to 500 mg every eight hours<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nctr-crs.fda.gov\/fdalabel\/services\/spl\/set-ids\/102c62ca-da20-4866-84a8-e3513824af4a\/spl-doc\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">500 to 875 mg every 12 hours<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You may or may not need antibiotic therapy for a case of acute sinusitis. Additionally, taking antibiotics like amoxicillin isn\u2019t the only way to find relief from the symptoms of a sinus infection.
