As she points out, \u201cresearch has shown that low-dose vaginal estrogen is not linked to higher rates of breast cancer, heart disease, stroke, or blood clots in healthy women.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"what-the-research-says\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What the research says<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several research studies support the concept that estradiol vaginal cream has low long-term risks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC6538478\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2019 study published in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Menopause<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> looked at the long-term risks of vaginal estrogen use and health conditions like cardiovascular disease, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/blog\/cancer-screening-for-women\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reproductive cancers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and hip fractures. After 18 years of follow-up with this group, they found no increased risk of cardiovascular disease, cancers, or hip fractures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC6636806\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a 2019 systematic evidence review also published in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Menopause<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found that vaginal estrogen treatment doesn\u2019t increase the risk of endometrial cancer or endometrial hyperplasia (abnormal thickening of the uterine lining).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"estradiol-vaginal-cream-interactions\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estradiol vaginal cream interactions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are using estradiol vaginal cream, you might be wondering if there are any foods (including grapefruit or grapefruit juice) or medications you need to avoid while using it.
