He adds that you should take it 30 to 60 minutes before your first meal of the day; if you take it twice a day, the second dose should be 10 to 12 hours after that, and also before a meal. \u201cIf taken with food, the increased pH in the stomach can decrease absorption of omeprazole,\u201d Dr. Shukla explains.
