Synthroid comes in doses ranging from 25 mcg to 300 mcg per tablet. Generic levothyroxine tablets vary in dosage depending on the manufacturer. However, there are important considerations to be aware of if you\u2019re considering switching.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2004, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thyroid.org\/thyroxine-products-joint-position-statement\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Thyroid Association<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, along with other medical associations, advised patients not to switch between brand-name and generic thyroxine <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/animal-veterinary\/abbreviated-new-animal-drug-applications\/bioequivalence\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bioequivalents<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> due to concerns about the variability of active ingredients. The FDA classifies drugs as bioequivalent even if they have between <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/media\/87219\/download\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">80 to 125% variability<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in drug exposure.
