Amoxicillin is a widely used generic antibiotic that treats a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Taken as a tablet, capsule, or oral solution, amoxicillin is taken for a limited time to eradicate an infection, usually just a few days. Although side effects are possible, treatment is limited enough that people usually don’t have serious problems.
