How to take Duexis

  • Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.

  • Swallow the tablet whole. Do not break, crush, divide, or chew it.

  • This medicine should come with a Medication Guide. Ask your pharmacist for a copy if you do not have one.

  • Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

  • This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to ibuprofen, aspirin, famotidine, or similar medicines. Do not use right before or right after a heart surgery, called coronary artery bypass graft (CABG).

Duexis warnings

  • Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. This medicine may affect certain medical test results.

  • This medicine may cause the following problems:Increased risk of blood clots, heart attack, stroke, or heart failureBleeding problems, including stomach and bowel bleeding or ulcerHigh blood pressureLiver problemsKidney problemsSerious skin reactionsSeizuresChanges in vision

  • Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, asthma, bleeding problems, heart or blood vessel problems, heart failure, a recent heart attack, high blood pressure, lupus, or a history of ulcers or other digestive problems. Tell your doctor if you smoke or drink alcohol.

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant. Do not use this medicine during the later part of pregnancy.

  • Unusual bleeding, bruising or weakness

  • Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.

  • Seizures

  • Severe stomach pain, vomiting blood, bloody, black or tarry stools

  • Sudden or severe headache, or problems with vision, speech, or walking

  • Do not use any other NSAID unless your doctor says it is okay. Some other NSAIDs are aspirin, diflunisal, naproxen, or salsalate.

  • Some medicines can affect how this medicine works. Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following:Aspirin, cefditoren, cholestyramine, cyclosporine, dasatinib, delavirdine, digoxin, fosamprenavir, lithium, methotrexate, pemetrexed, tizanidineBlood pressure medicineBlood thinner (including warfarin)Diuretic (water pill)Medicine to treat depressionSteroid medicine

Serious Side Effects

  • Bloody or black, tarry stools, severe stomach pain, vomiting blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

  • Decrease in how much or how often you urinate, rapid weight gain, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet

  • Numbness or weakness on one side of your body, sudden or severe headache, problems with vision, speech, or walking

  • Fast, slow, or pounding heartbeat

  • Seizures

  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing

  • Unusual bleeding, bruising or weakness

  • Chest pain that may spread, trouble breathing, coughing up blood, unusual sweating, fainting

  • Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, yellow skin or eyes

  • Blistering, peeling, red skin rash

  • Fever, neck pain, or stiff neck
