Flarex is an ophthalmic suspension that is used to treat eye inflammation caused by surgery, injury, or any other eye condition. It works by relieving symptoms such as redness, swelling, and itching. Do not use Flarex if you are allergic to its main ingredient, fluorometholone acetate, or any other part of this prescription medication. If you have a bacterial, fungal, or viral infection of the eye, such as herpes, you should not use Flarex. Tell your eye doctor if you are currently being treated for any other medical condition. If you have glaucoma, cataracts, or any other eye conditions, tell your healthcare provider.
Also, tell your doctor about all the treatments including all prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Only use Flarex how it was prescribed by your healthcare provider. Only use the number of eye drops recommended by your doctor. Remove contact lenses when you put in your Flarex eye drops—you can put your contact lenses back in 15 minutes after you instill the eye drops. Wash your hands before using Flarex. Shake the eye drops, tilt your head back, then administer. To avoid contamination, do not allow the tip of the eye dropper to touch any surfaces.
Common side effects of Flarex include stinging or burning in your eyes, red or puffy eyelids, and blurred vision. If you have pain behind your eyes, sudden vision changes; eye pain, or if you are seeing halos around lights or if you have signs of new eye infection, such as swelling, draining, or crusting of your eyes, you need to call your doctor right away.
This is not a complete list of the possible side effects of Flarex. You can ask a qualified healthcare professional about all the potential risks associated with using Flarex. You may also report any side effects you experience to the FDA.
