What to do if you miss a dose of Sotradecol

Sotradecol contraindications

  • This medicine is not right for everyone. You should not receive it if you had an allergic reaction to sodium tetradecyl sulfate, or if you have blood clotting problems, cellulitis, any allergic conditions or infections (including tuberculosis), a blood disorder, uncontrolled diabetes, asthma, cancer, lung disease, skin disease, or thyroid problems. This medicine is not used for treating large varicose veins or those caused by active stomach or pelvic tumors.

Sotradecol warnings

  • Pain in your lower leg (calf).

  • Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.

  • This medicine may increase your risk of having blood clots in the brain, heart, blood vessels, or lungs, which may lead to stroke, heart attack, deep vein thrombosis, or pulmonary embolism.

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have an artery disease (including Buerger's disease).

Sotradecol interactions

  • Tell your doctor if you have a disorder of your arteries, such as Buerger's disease.

  • Some medicines can affect how sodium tetradecyl sulfate works. Tell your doctor if you are using birth control pills.

Serious Side Effects

  • Numbness or weakness in your arm or leg, or on one side of your body, sudden or severe headache, problems with vision, speech, or walking

  • Chest pain, trouble breathing, coughing up blood

  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing

  • Pain, itching, burning, swelling, or a lump under your skin where the needle is placed

  • Pain in your lower leg (calf)

Less Serious Side Effects

  • Headache

  • Nausea, vomiting
