What is Maxalt?

Maxalt (rizatriptan) is a brand-name prescription drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of migraine symptoms. These symptoms include throbbing headache, nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Maxalt is classified as a triptan drug, and it affects serotonin levels in the brain. This drug causes migraine relief by narrowing the blood vessels and affecting nerves around the brain. Maxalt is approved for use by persons aged 6 years and older.
