What is Sumaxin used for?

Sumaxin is used to treat acne vulgaris. It is also used to treat acne rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis and other conditions as prescribed by your doctor. It is a topical antibiotic that works by destroying bacteria on the skin. Sumaxin may cause serious side effects such as cracked skin, easy bruising or bleeding, fever, persistent sore throat and aching or swollen joints. Seek medical attention if these symptoms persist or worsen. Sumaxin is indicated for use by adults as a cream.

  • You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to sulfa drugs such as Bactrim®. You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to sulfur or sulfites, or if you have kidney disease.

  • Yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes.
