What is Altacaine?

Altacaine is a brand-name prescription topical anesthetic used as eye drops to numb the eye before simple eye procedures such as removing foreign material from the cornea, measuring eye pressure (tonometry), measuring eye drainage (gonioscopy), suture removal, or other simple and rapidly-completed procedures.
