Enema FAQs

How much does Enema cost without insurance?

Both over-the-counter and prescription Enema prices will vary depending on the type, brand, ingredients, and retailer. You can, however, realize as much as 80% on a prescription Enema with a SingleCare Enema coupon. Also, SingleCare discounts are available on over-the-counter products, like over-the-counter Enemas, when prescribed by a physician. SingleCare is accepted at many nationwide pharmacies and retailers: Target, Walmart, Kroger, Walgreens, and many more.

How much does Enema cost with insurance?

Insurance copays for prescription Enema depend on your prescription and insurance plan. SingleCare can be a reliable way to save money even in comparison with insurance copays. To get the best price on Enema, compare your insurance copay to SingleCare’s discount.

Does Medicare cover Enema and how much does it cost?

Medicare insurance coverage on Enema depends on the prescription and insurance plan. However, your copay cost will vary according to your plan, so it's a good idea to ask your pharmacist to compare your Medicare copay cost with SingleCare. You can save money with a SingleCare savings card, and your savings may be better than your Medicare copays. SingleCare is accepted at large retailers, like Walmart, drugstores, like Walgreens, and supermarket pharmacies, like Harris Teeter.

Is there a generic of Enema?

Many prescriptions and over-the-counter Enemas have generic versions at a lower price. Search the SingleCare website or app for the Enema you need to find generic alternatives as well as coupons that could lower your cost by up to 80%.

What is Enema?

A Enema is any injection of fluid into the colon through the rectum. Enemas are used for a variety of medical reasons, including laxatives, bowel cleansing, bowel management, medication delivery, radiological imaging of the colon, and managing uncontrolled defecation caused by infections. There are also a number of alternative medical uses for Enemas.

Laxative Enemas usually consist of a hypertonic saline solution, that is, a solution of salts higher than the salt content in the body. These laxatives work by drawing water out of colon tissues. The additional water helps to lubricate stools to make them pass more easily. Other laxative enemas include castor oil, mineral oil, glycerol, docusate, or just plain water. Saline enemas are often the laxative of choice prior to a colonoscopy.

Enemas are also used to manage bowel problems which cause an inability to defecate properly, either fecal incontinence or chronic constipation. In this case, a laxative Enema is taken at regular times during the day to produce routine bowel movements.

Because some drugs are not effective if delivered through the mouth, Enemas are used instead, especially to deliver drugs to treat bowel problems.

Enemas are also used to inject a contrast agent such as barium sulfate prior to x-ray or other imaging of the colon.

Finally, certain types of infections cause life-threatening diarrhea which is sometimes controlled with medication-containing Enemas.

Alternative Enemas include colon cleansing Enemas, colonic irrigation Enemas, castile soap Enemas, coffee Enemas, bleach Enemas, and alcohol Enemas. These are not considered safe or necessary.

What are the side effects of Enema?

Side effects will vary depending on the product and the underlying condition. Search our website or app for a specific Enema brand or name to learn more about the possible side effects.
