How to take Fibricor

  • Take your medicine as directed. Your dose may need to be changed several times to find what works best for you.

  • Swallow the pill whole. Do not open, crush, break, or chew it.

  • This medicine should come with a Medication Guide. Ask your pharmacist for a copy if you do not have one.

  • Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

What to do if you miss a dose of Fibricor

Fibricor contraindications

  • This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to fenofibric acid or fenofibrate, if you are breastfeeding, or if you have gallbladder disease.

Fibricor warnings

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, or if you have kidney disease or you receive kidney dialysis. Also tell him if you have liver disease, blood clotting problems, diabetes, or thyroid problems.

  • This medicine may cause the following problems:Rhabdomyolysis (serious muscle problems, more likely to occur when used with statin medicine)Increased risk of gallstonesPancreatitis

  • Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.

  • Unusual bleeding or bruising

  • Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.

  • Sudden and severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, and lightheadedness

Fibricor interactions

  • Some foods and medicines can affect how fenofibric acid works. Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following: Blood thinner, including warfarinColchicineCyclosporine or tacrolimusStatin medicine

  • If you are also using cholestyramine, colesevelam, or colestipol, you must take fenofibric acid at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after you take these medicines.

  • Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.

  • Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.

Serious Side Effects

  • Sudden and severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, and lightheadedness

  • Blistering, peeling, red skin rash

  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing

  • Muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness

  • Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes

  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
