Flagyl is the brand-name version of metronidazole, a mainstay in the treatment of many types of bacterial and parasite infections. While metronidazole is available in a variety of strengths and dosage formats, Flagyl can only be purchased as 375 mg capsules. Flagyl 375 is limited to parasite infections, so most people taking metronidazole are prescribed generic versions.
