What is Motegrity?

This medication is used to treat chronic constipation. It is usually taken when other medications such as laxatives have not provided relief. This medication works by improving how well your stomach and intestines move food through the bowel during digestion.

This FDA-approved medication is available in the form of an oral tablet. Take this medication by mouth, with or without food, as directed by your doctor. Your doctor will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment.

Use this medication on a regular basis to get the most benefit from it. Try taking it at the same time every day to help yourself remember. Tell your doctor if you do not get relief from constipation after three to four days of treatment. Your doctor may recommend an additional medication along with Motegrity for fast constipation relief.

What are the side effects of Motegrity?

Common side effects of Motegrity include nausea, abdominal pain, headache, and diarrhea. These effects commonly occur during the first and second day of treatment. Other adverse effects include dizziness or tiredness. Consult with your doctor or healthcare professional if you experience any of these effects and they persist or worsen. Serious allergic reactions to this medication are usually rare.
