How to take Rena-Vite RX

  • Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.

  • Take one tablet daily.

  • Take the tablet with or without food.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with a drink of water.

  • Store Rena-Vite Rx tablets in a light-resistant container at room temperature protected from light and moisture.

What to do if you miss a dose of Rena-Vite RX

  • Ask the prescriber how to manage a missed dose.

  • Take a missed dose when remembered on the day it should have been taken.

  • Skip the missed dose if it’s the next day unless the prescriber instructs otherwise.

  • Do not take two doses to make up for a missed dose unless the prescriber instructs otherwise.

Rena-Vite RX contraindications

  • You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to vitamin C, any kind of vitamin B, or any of the other ingredients in the product.

Rena-Vite RX warnings

  • Use this medication only under the direction and supervision of a physician.

    • Rena-Vite is a virtually identical product that does not require a prescription or the supervision of a physician.

  • Tell the prescriber if you have:

    • A vitamin B12 deficiency

    • Liver problems

    • Diabetes

Rena-Vite RX interactions

  • To avoid possible drug interactions or problems absorbing vitamin B9 (folate) from the tablet, tell the prescriber about all the drugs and supplements you take, particularly:

    • Other supplements

    • Levodopa

    • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin or ibuprofen

    • Birth control pills

    • Drugs that treat seizures

    • Pancreatic enzymes

    • The cholesterol drugs cholestyramine or colestipol

    • Capecitabine, cyclosporine, fluoxetine, isotretinoin, metformin, methylprednisolone, sulfasalazine, warfarin 

  • Tell other healthcare providers you are taking vitamin B supplements before they prescribe new medications.

Serious side effects

Talk to a doctor if you notice any signs or symptoms of a possible serious side effect, including:

  • Allergic reaction: swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, faintness, dizziness, tiredness

Less serious side effects

  • Mild diarrhea

  • Mild upset stomach

  • Flushing

  • Mild reactions such as skin rash
